Center for Integrated Ag Systems

CIAS brings together farmers, researchers, policy makers, and others to study farming practices, farm profitability, the environment, and rural vitality. They are the University of Wisconsin-Madison's sustainable agriculture research center, and work primarily with small and medium farms.

Clearwater Collective

Clearwater Collective is a worker-owned cooperative with several projects. We have a delivery service of fresh, local organic milk delivered to your home weekly along with food produced on nearby farms including in-season vegetables and fruits, eggs, cheese, butter, ice-cream, and frozen meats. Another project of the collective is a buying club through Natural Farms of Madison, featuring convenient pickup or delivery of a wide variety of food and sundries every four weeks. Iowa CCI is a 29 year old organization whose mission is to empower and unite grassroots people of all ethnic backgrounds to take control of their communities; involve them in identifying problems and needs and in taking action to address them; and be a vehicle for social, economic and environmental justice.
We have established a directory of family farmers as part of our Family Farm Alternative Marketing Project. The mission of Iowa CCI's Family Farm Alternative Marketing Project is to create connections between independent family farmers and rural and urban Iowans in order to ensure farmers receive a fair price for their products and consumers receive and affordable, nutritious, sustainably raised product. Iowa Food Policy Council

Created in May of 2000 by Iowa Governor Thomas J. Vilsack through Executive Order #16, the Iowa Food Policy's purpose is to address issues concerning Iowa's food system. The Council consists of twenty-one citizen members from different food-related sectors. These areas include farming organizations, professional associations, representatives from industry, and ex-officio members and special advisors from state government.

Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation

The Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation is a member-supported nonprofit organization that protect's Iowa's land, water and wildlife "for those who follow." Since its founding in 1979, INHF has protected more than 70,000 acres, including prairies, wetlands, woodlands, greenways, trails and river corridors. Publishes quarterly Iowa Natural Heritage magazine. Statewide Prairie Rescue.
